Juniors: Manage your time effectively

posted in: Sophomores | 0

For students, learning how to manage time between academics & extracurriculars takes practice and discipline. With eight hours of “seat-time” a day, piling on extracurriculars may be difficult for some students to handle. Participate in an appropriate amount of outside activities – join a sport, get a job, volunteer, tryout for a team or audition for a performance group – it makes life more interesting & will bolster your college applications. The key is, don’t waste time during your week and don’t allow yourself to get so overloaded that you can’t succeed academically.

Working diligently on everything you do will help you fully prepare for the rigors of college life. Only through practice can you master this skill so start early in high school to become proficient in time management. College life comes with its challenges and it’s important to learn how to stay focused and spend your time wisely to ensure you effectively balance your academics with your social and personal life.

Doing well in classes while balancing your outside activities shows colleges you are serious about your education and have the ability to multitask. Staying focused and working diligently can help you get more done in less time. If you do that, you can excel in your courses & have extra time to participate in extracurricular activities that interest you. Colleges not only want to see that you’ve been involved but that you’ve been successful in both your academics and extracurricular activities.
