ROTC Language Scholarship Quest

posted in: Military-ROTC | 0

Do you have an affinity for acquiring foreign languages? Would you be at all interested in becoming a military officer? There are excellent ROTC Language Scholarships that can pay up to 100% of your college education if you learn an “in demand” language while in college. The military is constantly seeking to increase the pool of officers who can speak foreign languages that are considered “in demand.”

These languages can range from Arabic to Russian to Swahili, with many more on the list. (current list also includes Mandarin, Indonesian, Persian, Pashto, Urdu, Portugese & Hausa) Your chosen language must be offered at the colleges listed on your ROTC Scholarship application and you must major in that language. It’s important to apply early if you want to be considered for one of these scholarships as funds do get exhausted every year. And since you are only allowed to put five colleges on your application, it’s critical that you select the right colleges!

The ROTC scholarship process is daunting & complex, so the first step would be to contact a local ROTC representative so you can gather enough information to determine whether the military lifestyle would fit your personality. Once you have decided to go forward, it’s just a matter of being disciplined, staying organized & applying early.

At Navigatio, we help our ROTC bound students start early, staying ahead of schedule, so their applications will be considered in the first round of decisions, during October of senior year. Working with our students on a weekly basis, we break the process down into bite sized pieces, so it’s all easier to digest. Contact us if you need help landing an ROTC Language Scholarship!
